Infant Program
(2 months -12 months) Ratio: 1:4
Meals: Infant meals are provided by the parents. Children are on an individual meal schedule.
Rest time: Children follow individual schedule.
Our primary goals in the Infant program are to provide a safe, nurturing experience for our infants and to foster basic trust. We pay close attention to each child and actively communicate love and acceptance through body language, tone of voice, gentle touch and the pleasing environment of our nursery. Sign language is introduced as an important means of communication to help the infants express their needs to their caregivers.
While caring for the infant’s basic physical needs, our caregivers balance physical touch and nourishment with “tummy time” and “floor time”. This opportunity for free movement and exploration is critical for the development of the central nervous system through sensory experience. Free movement allows for the development of gross/fine motor skills, sensory motor functioning, cognitive and social skills.
Children are exposed to various languages with an emphasis on English through books, songs, naming objects (e.g. ball, peach) feelings, and description of actions (‘I will change your diaper now,’ “Ethan is playing with the ball”).
Music time is incorporated in the curriculum. Our music specialist exposes the children to a variety of musical instruments, songs, movement and finger play.
Only full time care is available for this age group. Infants may be dropped off between 7:30 am and 10:30 am. Variations in infant arrival schedules must be discussed and approved by the lead infant teacher.
